Dexter Studios (206560, “Dexter”) has once again reinforced its reputation as a leading powerhouse in visual effects within the global OTT industry.
The Disney+ original series Light Shop, with VFX led by Dexter, has been nominated for Best Digital VFX at the 2025 International Streaming Festival Global OTT Awards. This marks the second consecutive year that Dexter has been recognized in this category.
The International Streaming Festival Global OTT Awards 2025 is a global awards ceremony dedicated to TV, OTT, and online content. It is jointly hosted by Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT and the city of Busan, and organized by the Korea International Streaming Festival Association and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency. The awards evolved from the ACA & Global OTT Awards, which were held as a special program of the Busan International Film Festival between 2023 and 2024, and launched this year as a standalone event. The awards draw participation from leading OTT platforms including Netflix, Disney+, iQIYI, Viu, and Youku, as well as major content studios such as Studio Dragon, SLL, TVING, and TBS. Winners are selected across 14 competitive categories and 4 invited categories.
The Best Digital VFX award specifically honors excellence in visual creativity achieved through digital technology. For Light Shop, Dexter delivered highly immersive visuals that brought to life the series’ mysterious world between life and death, as well as its unique characters with their own intertwined stories. The VFX work significantly enhanced the show’s atmosphere and narrative impact.
At the 2024 ACA & Global OTT Awards, Dexter projects “Death’s Game” (TVING original), “Parasyte: The Grey” (Netflix), and “YuYu Hakusho” (Netflix) were all nominated in the Best Digital VFX category. Among the three nominations, Parasyte: The Grey, widely praised for its Hollywood-level creature design, secured the award.
Since winning the Technical Award at the 34th Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2013 for Mr. Go, Dexter has continued to earn recognition at more than 20 award ceremonies over the past 12 years. Its accolades include technical awards from the Grand Bell Awards, the Baeksang Arts Awards, the Chunsa International Fim Festival, the Buil Film Awards, the Korean Film Critics Association Awards, and the Korean Film Producers Association Awards.  Dexter’s representative works include the “Along with the Gods” series, “The Pirates: The Bandit Who Went to Sea,” “Ashfall,” “Space Sweepers,” “Escape from Mogadishu,” the “Alienoid” series, and “The Moon.”
Beyond Korea, the company has also contributed to high-profile Chinese-language productions such as Tsui Hark’s “Detective Dee 2” and “The Taking of Tiger Mountain,” China’s first science fiction blockbuster “The Wandering Earth,” and “Monkey King 2.” These projects have earned Dexter VFX honors at major international film festivals including Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards, the Hong Kong Film Awards, and the Changchun Film Festival.
The 2025 International Streaming Festival Global OTT Awards will be held on August 24 at 7 p.m. at the outdoor theater of the Busan Cinema Center. The ceremony will also be broadcast live through the festival’s official YouTube channel and Naver CHZZK.
Meanwhile, Dexter continues to play a pivotal role in global OTT projects, contributing its expertise in VFX, digital intermediate (DI), and sound. Its portfolio includes Netflix titles such as “Squid Game,” “Kingdom,” “Hellbound,” “Gyeongseong Creature,” and “A Killer Paradox”; Disney+ series including “Moving,” “Nine Puzzle,” and “Hyperknife”; and Amazon Prime Video’s “Butterfly.” Through these projects, Dexter continues to showcase its differentiated capabilities on the global stage.
