Dexter Studios is ready to join the production team for TVING’s original series “Death’s Game.”
Dexter Studios (206560), a company specializing in VFX and content production, announced its new contract with TVING on May 31. The company is expected to work on the VFX featured in TVING’s latest original series “Death’s Game” co-produced by SLL, Studio N, and Saram Entertainment. Worth KRW 3.3352 billion in total, including KRW 135.2 million for pre-production and KRW 3.2 billion for the main contract, the contract takes immediate effect and runs until January 31, 2024.
Based on a popular Naver webtoon series from 2019 (same title, written and drawn by Lee Won-sik and Ggulchan), “Death’s Game” depicts the story of Yi Jae as he goes through a dozen different 12 deaths and lives before falling into hell. Producer Ha Byunghoon, who previously directed the KBS sitcom “Sound of Your Heart,” also based on a massively popular Naver Webtoon, and dramas “Confession Couple” as well as “18 Again,” will direct the series featuring actors Seo In-guk and Park So-dam, each taking on the role of “Choi Yi Jae” and “Death.” An official from the production team said, “The original webtoon series has already been translated into several languages, including English, Japanese, and French. It was earned plenty of love and fans from around the world.” The official added, “We’re trying to add something to the original, but also add our own twist to make sure the TV series also has something to offer in its own right.”
Meanwhile, a Dexter Studios official said, “Whenever Yi Jae jumps into a new life, he’s dropped into a different environment and different conditions. We’re going to use our VFX technology to make sure we get the most out of each setting.” He added, “Our attention to detail and advanced technology will help create the fantasy elements and mysterious atmosphere the series needs.”
