A delegation comprising major broadcasters, technology companies, and related organizations from Catalonia, Spain—a key hub of the European content industry—visited Dexter Studios to explore opportunities for global collaboration.
Dexter Studios(206560, hereinafter “Dexter”) announced that a delegation of about 20 members from the audiovisual media sector, organized by the Catalonia Trade and Investment Agency, visited Dexter’s headquarters on the 15th to explore strategic collaboration opportunities across various fields, including content production, post-production, and the application of AI technology.
Catalonia is a major hub of the European audiovisual media industry, home to approximately 4,100 companies in the sector and boasting a market worth around 8.4 billion euros (approximately 14 trillion KRW). The Cluster Audiovisual de Catalunya is recognized as Europe’s largest cluster in this sector, comprising approximately 220 member companies active in content production, VFX (visual effects), distribution, and VR/XR. Centered around this organically connected, world-class cluster, Catalonia is fostering the audiovisual media industry as a strategic sector.
This delegation consists of representatives from a total of 16 organizations in the Catalonia region of Spain, including the Cluster Audiovisual de Catalunya, public broadcasters, private media groups, content production companies, post-production studios, AI and immersive content technology firms, and educational institutions. Led by Miquel Rutllant Vallvé, president of the Catalonia Audiovisual Cluster, the delegation includes decision-makers such as CEOs, general directors, and department heads from the comprehensive media group ‘Grup Lavinia,’ the Catalan public broadcaster ‘3CAT,’ and the global content production company ‘Gestmusic.’
Dexter showcased its integrated production environment, which encompasses the entire content production process, including technical capabilities in VFX, DI (digital color grading), and sound—all accumulated through projects such as films, dramas, global OTT content, and immersive content. In particular, the delegation responded very positively to Dexter’s expansion strategy from a VFX studio to a full-fledged content production studio, as well as its production processes, which are being advanced through AI R&D.
An official from the Catalonia Trade and Investment Agency stated, “The delegation’s primary objective was to directly observe Korea’s content business models and trends in AI integration to identify practical benchmarking examples and explore future collaboration opportunities,” adding, “We were able to identify potential areas of cooperation with Dexter, a comprehensive content company, across various fields including content production, post-production—such as VFX—and production efficiency improvements utilizing AI technology.”
Dexter was invited to the “3rd K-Drama MOiM 2024” held in Madrid, Spain, in 2024, where it delivered special lectures to content production professionals, and VFX company representatives. Last year, it was the only Asian company officially invited to “PIDS ENGHIEN 2026” in Paris, France, and has continued to foster exchanges with the European market. The visit by the Catalonia Audiovisual Media Delegation is also expected to contribute to the expansion of Dexter’s global partnership network.
Kim Hye-jin, CSO (Chief Strategy Officer) of Dexter Studios, stated, “Through this exchange, we were able to broaden our understanding of the content production environment with major Spanish audiovisual media companies and discuss specific areas for collaboration across various fields.” She added, “We will continue to communicate to create project examples that combine the production capabilities of companies from both Korea and Spain, which have consistently distinguished themselves in non-English-speaking content markets.”
