Dexter Completes 13.3 Billion Won Financing for First Immersive Media Art Exhibition ‘Flashback: Gyerim’… Construction Completed, Project ‘Sailing Smoothly’
Dexter Studios (206560, hereinafter Dexter) announced it has completed a total project financing of KRW 13.3 billion for ‘Flashback: Gyerim’ (hereinafter ‘Gyerim’) from IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, Gaia Venture Partners, NextG Investment, Prologue Ventures, and Union Investment Partners.
‘Gyerim’ is Dexter’s first permanent exhibition hall, established as part of its immersive media art business conducted through its subsidiary, Flashbackground Co., Ltd. Serving as the starting point for the immersive media art brand ‘FLASHBACKGROUND’, which reinterprets each region’s unique folktales through media art to present spaces for experiencing new worlds, it is being constructed on a 1700-pyeong (approximately 5,600 m²) site within the Bomun Tourist Complex, a representative landmark of Gyeongju, making it the largest of its kind in Korea.

Featuring optimal sound design by Live Tone, the sound studio behind the Hollywood film ‘Mickey 17,’ and Korea’s tallest exhibition space with a ceiling height of up to 11 meters providing an overwhelming sense of space, ‘Gyerim’ promises an immersive experience unmatched by conventional media art exhibitions.
‘Gyerim’ is filled with immersive exhibitions utilizing cutting-edge interactive technology, based on storytelling-style media art that reinterprets the cultural heritage unique to the millennium-old city of Gyeongju in a modern way. It will comprise 13 original content pieces, including: ‘Geoseogan’, a grand depiction of the birth story of Park Hyeokgeose, the first ruler of the thousand-year kingdom of Silla; ‘The Sea Guarded by Dragons’, where visitors can directly experience the waters off Silla’s coast protected by King Munmu transformed into a guardian dragon; and ‘Shindansu'(Sacred Tree), a massive interactive content piece recreating the traditional village harmony space found in ‘ ‘.
Having secured investments from multiple institutions, which recognized its business competitiveness and growth potential, ‘Gyerim’ has completed construction and is set to open in October, coinciding with the global spotlight on Gyeongju due to the ‘2025 APEC Summit’.
