Dexter Studios has brought its hallmark precision and technological expertise to one of the most anticipated titles of the year, “Tempest.”
The content production company Dexter Studios (206560, “Dexter”) announced on September 11 that it provided visual effects (VFX) and digital intermediate (DI) color grading services for Disney+’s Tempest.
The series follows “Mun-ju” (Jun Ji-hyun), a United Nations ambassador with an international reputation, as she investigates the forces behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. Alongside “San-ho” (Gang Dong-won), a stateless special agent tasked with protecting her, she confronts a massive truth that poses a threat to the Korean Peninsula. Since its release on September 10, Tempest has generated strong global interest, maintaining its momentum and capturing international attention.
Following its acclaimed work on Disney+ hits such as “Moving” and “Light Shop,” as well as the upcoming Hyper Knife, Dexter’s VFX Division once again delivered an awe-inspiring cinematic universe of extraordinary scale through Tempest. The DI Division, known for shaping the distinctive visual tones of titles including “Shadow Detective,” “Connect,” “Moving,” “The Tyrant,” “Light Store,” and “Nine Puzzle,” brought the series’ tense and dramatic atmosphere to life with rich, multidimensional color grading.
Hong Jung-ho, Executive Director of Production Management and VFX Supervisor at Dexter, said, “Tempest was a project where every scene was refined in meticulous detail under the direction of Kim Hee-won and Heo Myung-haeng, with the goal of achieving exceptional realism and cinematic scale. Viewers will find it especially engaging to focus on how vividly the series depicts crisis scenarios that could realistically occur in Korea.”
Park Jin-yeong, Executive Director of Dexter’s DI Division, shared insights on the color grading process, stating, “We focused on creating a sophisticated visual tone that highlights the weight and depth of Tempest, which skillfully blends elements of espionage, action, and romance. Particular attention was paid to expressing the main character’s elegant charisma through smooth contrasts, while ensuring that the complex VFX components were seamlessly integrated with the live-action footage to enhance realism.”
Meanwhile, Dexter continues to collaborate with domestic and international production companies across the full spectrum of post-production, including VFX, DI, sound design, and mixing. The studio consistently demonstrates its industry-leading capabilities across film, drama, animation, and OTT content, setting new standards for excellence in visual storytelling.
