Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Jeon Byung Geuk visited visual effects (VFX) and content company Dexter Studios’ head office in Sangam to see how a company like Dexter Studios produces what is widely known today around the world as K-content. Vice Minister Jeon stopped by Dexter DI’s Sangam branch, LiveTone, and Dexter Studios’ head office. Recently, the government appears eager to gather feedback from the field given that K-content is drawing plenty of attention from all over the world.

Dexter Studios is an all-in-one content company capable of everything from pre-production in planning and production to post-production including VFX, Digital Intermediate (DI; Digital Color Correction), and sound production when it comes to producing K-content. Previously, the company participated in the production and technology of films like Along with the Gods, Ashfall, and Escape from Mogadishu, drawing significant attention and acclaim from the industry.

Most recently, the movie “Alienoid Part 1,” for which Dexter Studios was in charge of VFX technology production, piqued people’s interest with a realistic depiction of Sci-Fi elements in the movie, martial arts, action sequences, and fantasy elements, all mixed into a time warp story that goes back and forth between the present and the Goryeo Dynasty. The film won the Visual Effects Award at the 58th Grand Bell Awards hosted last month. Dexter Studios is currently testing the waters in fields like Virtual Production (VP), a new type of technology used in producing content that shoots with a large LED screen in the background, as well as other realistic media art businesses.
